Welcome teachers and students to a place where education and adventure collide! Whether you're meeting our craftsmen, riding a roller coaster, catching a show, or descending into the depths of Marvel Cave, experience "hands-on" learning at its finest at Silver Dollar City.

We're happy to provide professionally developed curriculum guides. Simply choose from the topics below, and select a corresponding lesson plan. Then print off the student activity sheet, bring it to Silver Dollar City and begin your educational adventure!

Kinetic & Potential Energy 
Energy...for the body it comes in all forms; drinks, chocolate, and sunlight just to name a few. When it comes to Physics in motion, energy comes in two main forms: Potential and Kinetic. Each plays a very significant role in the enjoyment and safety of a roller coaster ride. Both Potential and Kinetic energy affect a rider's emotions, adrenaline levels, and nervous system. (more...)

Ecology of Marvel Cave 
Welcome to Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City! In order to complete this lesson, you must go on the guided Marvel Cave tour. Believe it or not, Missouri is currently home to over 5,000 caves. This lesson is great for introducing the idea of variables. What better way to learn a concept than to experience it yourself? Two days are never alike at Silver Dollar City and this activity challenges the students to think about what really stays the same and what could change based on other factors. (more...)

Hot Chocolate! 
Using the statistics given in this activity, students are asked to help Mary figure out why there has been a slump in Hot Chocolate sales at her stand. She has kept a diary over the past two weeks as to what she's been doing different and is looking for the insight of a bright student to help her increase sales once again. (more...)

Let's Get Something To Eat 
It's hard not to notice the enticing smells that come out of Eva & Delilah's Bakery as you enter the park. The fresh baked bread, giant éclairs, plate-sized cookies (and much more) tempt the taste buds as you get just past the turnstiles. All of a sudden, your stomach begins to growl and you decide you better get something to eat and fast. (more...)

Silver Dollar City's Swinging Bridge 
Based on the amount of rain Silver Dollar City gets each year, the amount of space that separates the Swinging Bridge and the creek below varies. Big Jack decided that he was going to do a little math to see how far down the bridge would hang based on length and weight. That way he could always keep the bridge out of the water. (more...)

Phoebe Snapp Taffy 
The Maple family loves making salt water taffy. They make every kind of taffy they can possibly think of...even some really bizarre flavors. Why, the Maples make so many flavors now that it may even be the world's record! Being the taffy experts that they are, the Maples created a couple new flavors and started asking their customers which they liked the best. (more...)

Step into a past filled with sights and smells and see how early settlers once used candles as a form of electricity. Now considered an "art," candle making used to be a valuable skill and absolute necessity to provide families with light and a number of other household duties. (more...)

Ever wonder what life on a farm would have been like over 100 years ago? Head to McHaffie's Homestead and take a walking tour into living history! You'll explore the materials and supplies needed for the early Ozark settlers to survive as well as common animals used to carry out daily chores. (more...)

Lye Soap Doesn't Lie 
Lye soap was essential in everyday life in the 1800s. Whether it was taking a bath, catching fish, or trying to take the itch out of poison ivy, this soap had the remedy. In this activity, students will visit Granny's Homemade Lye Soap and learn how the soap was made, what it was used for, and other fun facts along the way. Your job is to pick two of Silver Dollar City's 40 daily shows and listen to the sounds of artists from around the globe. Notice their instruments, costumes, voices and movements to see if you can figure out the genre of music. (more...)

"Frontier Follies" - Silver Dollar Saloon Show 
Head on over to the Silver Dollar Saloon and pull up a chair as the saloon gals & the saloon owner sing and dance your socks off. Grab some peanuts or order one of the Saloon's famous Root Beer Floats while you learn a thing or two about producing the show. Turns out the saloon owner needs a new ending to his show and he hired just the two to do it.
